Job summary

Red River Mutual is seeking an experienced Field Adjuster to investigate and negotiate moderate to complex commercial, agriculture and residential property and casualty losses. You will communicate with policyholders and brokers to reach fair resolutions and work with experts to support investigations.

The role requires extensive travel within the territory, strong negotiation skills, and a track record of leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Post-secondary education strongly preferred.
• CIP designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years field adjusting experience.
• Proven teamwork, relationship management and collaboration skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills in stressful situations.
• Analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced negotiation and conflict management skills.
• Proficient with Claims Connect/Mobile Claims and Guidewire.
• Deep understanding of building construction/renovation techniques.
• Ability to handle fluctuating workloads and timelines.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Investigate losses in a predefined territory and liaise with policyholders.
• Review policy wordings to evaluate insurance coverage.
• Interpret contracts and laws and apply to claims scenarios.
• Communicate coverage results to policyholders and brokers in writing and verbally.
• Engage internal and external experts to assist in investigations and indemnification.
• Maintain an up-to-date electronic claim file and document actions.
• Manage loss and expense reserves and ensure timely payments.
• Coordinate with policyholders, repairers and retailers to resolve files.
• Travel to catastrophe sites outside territory when needed.
• Assist the Claims Manager with mentoring the Field Adjusting team and training.
• Network with business partners to promote Red River Mutual.
