Qualifications

Senior Feeder/ Piping Engineer

Our expertise includes Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) engineering, Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering, Plant Life Management and Extension, Retube Tooling Systems, Inspection and Maintenance Services, Steam Generator Replacement, Plant Equipment Refurbishment and Retrofits, including New Build Designs such as MONARK, Cernavoda, and SMR.

We are currently seeking Junior to Intermediate Senior Feeder/ Piping Engineers to join our team in Mississauga. This permanent role supports Life Extension Projects and New Build projects, focusing on the design and analysis of feeder piping, supports, and inline components.

This position is based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

We seek self-motivated individuals capable of working independently or under guidance from senior engineers, eager to develop their careers in the nuclear field. Candidates should follow instructions from qualified engineers to complete mechanical scopes and develop engineering documentation as needed.

  • Follow AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines.
  • Participate in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of CANDU or nuclear process systems.
  • Design piping supports, pipe sizing, and layouts using software like S3D, Navisworks, and Smart Plant Review.
  • Perform engineering calculations using tools like Pipe Stress, Caesar II, Auto Pipe, MATLAB, MathCAD, ANSYS Mechanical, and LSDYNA.
  • Create finite element models of complex piping and support systems.
  • Conduct pipe stress evaluations per ASME and B31.1 standards.
  • Perform thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear, and nonlinear analyses per relevant codes.
  • Prepare Design Change Packages and related documentation.
  • Develop technical documents, drawings, reports, specifications, and data sheets.
  • Assist in TSSA registration for pressure boundary modifications.
  • Prepare procurement requisitions and review supplier documents.
  • Guide junior staff and lead technical packages as required.
  • Conduct site visits and field walk-downs during various project phases.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Respond promptly to engineering issues and ensure quality within budget and schedule.

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds an Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university; P. Eng license is mandatory.
  • Has at least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within heavy industrial environments.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of mechanical and piping systems; nuclear experience is an asset.
  • Is familiar with relevant standards and codes like CSA N285.0, CSA B51, CSA N289, ASME Section III, and ANSI B31.1.
  • Has design experience with nuclear class piping systems, valves, and pumps.
  • Has stress analysis experience with relevant software.
  • Is qualified or eligible for ASME Appendix XXIII certification.
  • Can apply technical principles practically and logically.
  • Possesses excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Works well in multidisciplinary teams and has site experience in construction or commissioning.
  • Is willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW), if required.
