Job summary

Insight Global in Calgary is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the full estimating process on commercial, institutional, and complex building projects. This role requires owning pursuits from start to finish, with focus on risk, pricing, and long-term profitability.

In-office 5 days a week, you will collaborate with operations leaders, project managers, and clients while mentoring junior estimators. The successful candidate will have extensive GC estimating experience and a deep understanding

Qualifications

• 7+ years of estimating experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or building construction.
• Proven ability to independently lead complete project estimates from concept to bid.
• Strong understanding of labour productivity, material pricing, subcontractor procurement, equipment costing, and indirect costs.
• Experience with first-principles estimating methods and detailed quantity take-offs.
• Background in Construction Management, IPD, and Lump Sum projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with operations leaders, PMs, and clients.
• Experience working for a General Contractor and mentoring junior estimators.

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Estimator to support one of Canada's leading general contractors in Calgary, Alberta. This individual will be responsible for leading the full estimating process on commercial, institutional, and complex building construction projects while supporting the organization's strategic growth and profitability objectives.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience leading estimates across the entire scope of a construction project rather than focusing solely on select divisions or trades. This individual must be capable of working independently, owning pursuits from start to finish, and contributing to long-term profit enhancement strategies through effective risk analysis and pricing methodologies. This role is in-office 5 days a week.

Skills and Requirements

• 7+ years of estimating experience within the commercial, institutional, industrial, or building construction industry
• Proven experience independently leading complete project estimates from initial concept through bid submission
• Strong understanding of labour productivity, material pricing, subcontractor procurement, equipment costing, and indirect project costs
• Experience utilizing first-principles estimating methodologies and developing detailed quantity take-offs
• Construction Management, IPD, and Lump Sum projects
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations leaders, project managers, superintendents, consultants, trade partners, and clients
• Experience working for a General Contractor
• Previous experience as a Lead Estimator, Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator, Estimating Manager, or Preconstruction Manager
• Experience estimating projects valued at $20M+ and managing large, complex pursuits
• Exposure to Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) environments and collaborative project delivery models
• Experience participating in pursuit strategy, bid reviews, executive presentations, and client interviews
• Knowledge of local Calgary and Alberta construction markets, subcontractors, labour conditions, and material pricing
• Experience supporting public-sector procurement processes and alternative delivery projects
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connected, Primavera P6, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction technology platforms
• Previous experience mentoring junior estimators, coordinators, or student estimators
• Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
