Job summary

Suncor seeks a Specialist Project Engineer to lead regulatory interactions with provincial authorities in Canada on environmental compliance, risk assessments, and remediation projects from our Calgary head office. The role requires 12+ years of experience and a P.Eng. or P.Geo.

designation (or eligibility), with responsibility for strategy, execution, budgets, and cross-disciplinary teams. The position is office-based in Calgary with travel within the territory, a 40-hour week, and a commitment

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation, or eligibility.
• Extensive environmental regulatory experience in Canada, with strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead interactions with regulators in Canadian provinces on Environmental Compliance.
• Oversee environmental projects including monitoring, risk assessments, and remediation.
• Review and approve technical deliverables from third-party consultants.
• Manage project budgets and provide cost performance updates.
• Collaborate with Legal and stakeholders on inquiries and agreements.
• Provide technical leadership on environmental matters across business units.
