Job summary

Associated Environmental Consultants, part of the Associated Engineering Group, seeks an experienced Environmental Scientist and Project Manager to join our Edmonton office. You will lead environmental studies, coordinate with regulators, and manage project delivery while maintaining client relationships.

The role requires 8+ years in consulting on municipal infrastructure in Alberta, a relevant professional designation preferred, and CPESC certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in an environmental discipline required; graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • 8+ years of consulting experience with municipal infrastructure projects based in Alberta.
  • Preference for professional designation (P. Ag, P. Biol., P, Geol., RPF).
  • CPESC certification is an asset.
  • Ability to integrate environmental requirements into engineering projects across proposal, design, tender and construction phases.
  • Proven experience as an effective and results-driven project manager.
  • Strong knowledge of the Alberta market and regulatory frameworks.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the environmental aspects of municipal infrastructure projects, including environmental studies, permitting, tender development, contract administration, and construction compliance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are integrated into project design and implementation.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental regulations, policies, and best practices to ensure project compliance.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering professional development and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers and other scientists.
  • Support and lead project management, including task planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
