The Opportunity:
PRI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join our growing team in Mississauga. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to play a pivotal role in the expansion of our environmental practice in the region. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, a proven track record in project delivery, and a demonstrable ability to cultivate and secure new business opportunities within the infrastructure, utilities, and public sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership and Project Management:
- Lead and manage a diverse range of environmental engineering projects, including hydrogeological investigations, soil and groundwater sampling programs, surface water and sediment sampling programs, soil vapour sampling, and contaminated site remediation projects, environmental assessments (EA), remediation, permitting and approvals, waste management, water and wastewater treatment, and other related areas.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies.
- Conduct environmental site investigations and risk assessments.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Review and approve environmental reports and plans prepared by others.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Business Development and Client Relationship Management:
- Leverage existing network and actively cultivate new business opportunities within the infrastructure (e.g., transportation, energy), utilities (e.g., power, water, telecommunications), and public sectors (e.g., municipal, provincial, federal).
- Identify and pursue potential projects through proactive engagement with clients, participation in industry events, and responding to RFPs/RFQs.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Understand client environmental needs and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
- Prepare compelling technical and commercial proposals.
- Participate in presentations and business development meetings.
- Stay informed about upcoming projects and regulatory changes within the target sectors.
- Team Collaboration and Growth:
- Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines, project managers, scientists, and support staff.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's strategic growth initiatives in the environmental sector.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of environmental engineering talent.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology or a related engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Chemical) with a strong environmental focus (Master's degree preferred).
- Preference will be given to a candidate possessing a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting.
- Demonstrable experience in business development and securing projects within the infrastructure, utilities, and/or public sectors in Ontario.
- Established network of contacts within relevant client organizations is a significant asset.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in a wide range of environmental assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance areas.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and permitting processes in Ontario.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
