Job summary

Jobtailor in Montreal is seeking an experienced hardware design engineer to lead development of complex hardware blocks, from schematics to PCB layouts, collaborating with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. You will perform design validation, testing, and debugging to ensure reliability, and help transition products to production.

Proficiency with Altium or OrCAD, plus high-speed digital, power, and RF expertise, is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (with 6+ years of industrial experience), MSc or PhD (with 3+ years of industrial experience) in hardware design and development.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar PCB design software.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design, power electronics, and analog circuits.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with CPUs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and networking modules such as Ethernet, SFP+, or QSFP+.
  • Experience in FPGA design and high-speed interfaces including JESD204B, JESD204C, PCIe, DDR3 or DDR4, and RF systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (EMC, safety, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in hardware prototyping and use of laboratory equipment.
