Job summary

Jobtailor in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to design mixed analog and digital circuitry for medical devices, own electrical specifications, and drive verification activities.

You will collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams to integrate electronics, guide PCB layouts, and support manufacturing while contributing to design-for-test and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of electronics design experience.
  • Hands-on mixed-signal analog and digital circuit design experience.
  • Strong analog design skills: amplifiers, filters, data acquisition, power, and sensor interfaces.
  • Digital design with microcontrollers, memory, and buses.
  • Ability to debug complex system-level hardware issues to root cause across domains.
  • Experience defining electrical requirements and verifying test cases.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design; SPICE.
  • Laboratory equipment proficiency: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, etc.
  • Familiarity with EMC, grounding, shielding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in regulated medical-device environments is desired.
  • Firmware/embedded software experience in C or C++ is desired.
  • Experience with low-noise power amplifiers or MRI-compatible hardware is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design mixed analog and digital circuitry for medical-device products.
  • Own electrical specifications, interface definitions, and design documentation.
  • Develop and execute electrical verification tests and protocols.
  • Debug and root-cause complex hardware issues across domains.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate electronics.
  • Guide PCB layout and review schematics for SI, EMC, grounding and thermal performance.
  • Select components, manage BOMs, and evaluate parts for performance and lifecycle.
  • Bring up, characterize, and troubleshoot prototypes using lab equipment.
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and design-for-test/manufacture.

Job description

  • Design mixed analog and digital circuitry for new and sustaining medical-device products, including schematic capture, topology selection, and design analysis
  • Own electrical system specifications, requirements, interface definitions, and design documentation
  • Develop, own, and execute or oversee electrical verification test cases and protocols
  • Debug and root-cause complex system-level issues across analog, digital, power, firmware, signal-integrity, and communication domains
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation, including worst-case, tolerance, timing, and power analyses
  • Guide PCB layout and review schematics and layouts for signal integrity, EMC, grounding/shielding, thermal performance, and manufacturability
  • Select and specify components, manage bills of materials, and evaluate parts for performance, reliability, and lifecycle
  • Bring up, characterize, and troubleshoot prototypes using laboratory equipment
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, systems, and software engineers to integrate electronics into the overall system
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk management, design-for-test, and design-for-manufacture activities
  • Author and maintain design documentation, analyses, and reports for design-control and regulatory requirements
  • Support manufacturing and suppliers with technical issues, design transfer, and continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of electronics design experience
  • Hands‑on mixed‑signal analog and digital circuit design experience
  • Strong analog design skills covering amplifiers, filters, data acquisition, power, and sensor interfaces
  • Digital design experience with microcontrollers, memory, and communication buses
  • Ability to debug complex system‑level hardware issues to root cause across multiple domains
  • Experience defining electrical requirements and specifications
  • Experience developing verification test cases and protocols
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE
  • Hands‑on proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and other laboratory equipment
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and EMC principles
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Experience in a regulated medical‑device environment is desired
  • Familiarity with EMC and electrical‑safety testing and certification is desired
  • Firmware or embedded software experience in C or C++ is desired
  • Experience with low‑noise power amplifiers, MRI‑compatible hardware, non‑ferromagnetic design, or medical‑imaging systems is desired
  • FPGA or programmable‑logic design experience is desired
  • Design‑for‑manufacturability and test, tolerance analysis, and supplier management experience is desired
