We are seeking an experienced, accomplished, and self-motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with project management experience to work in the Electrical group based out of either our Barrie, Collingwood, or Guelph office.

The Senior Electrical Engineer – Buildings will have experience in designing electrical power distribution, standby power, and lighting systems in buildings within a consulting environment. Understanding fire alarms, IT and communications, and security systems is desirable. The successful candidate will have experience with commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, especially within multi-disciplinary design teams.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for creating and implementing processes and designs using CAD software, assisting Group Leaders and Managers with business development, providing technical direction, and mentoring junior staff. They will also plan and oversee projects to ensure timely completion within budget.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare drawings for various designs including title blocks, base plans, linework, single line diagrams, panel layouts, riser diagrams, voltage drops, fault current calculations, etc.
2. Perform engineering calculations using relevant software and standards
3. Manage or prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD or Revit, adhering to company standards
4. Prepare electrical specifications, ensuring equipment specifications are current through research
5. Conduct preliminary reviews and monitor construction progress
6. Conduct site visits as required
7. Prepare project proposals detailing scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables
8. Manage project tasks including discipline coordination, client communication, documentation, budgets, timelines, invoicing, and risk mitigation

Key Position Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• P.Eng. designation in Ontario
• 10-15 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD
• Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Electrical Safety Code
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Experience in business development and project management is an asset
• Ability to handle multiple projects independently
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
