Job summary

BPA in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design, analysis, and verification of building electrical systems for major institutional, commercial, and healthcare projects. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients to deliver practical, tailored solutions while upholding safety and quality.

Lead site surveys, prepare precise documentation, and support construction supervision to ensure the design intent is realized.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Member of PEO.
  • 10+ years in building electrical systems.
  • Eligible for government security clearance.
  • Bilingualism EN/FR asset; English-only accepted.
  • Strong leadership and customer service abilities.

Responsibilities

Led by April Waddell, P. Eng., Project Director - Electrical, a seasoned leader with 18 years of technical expertise, known for her approachable leadership and technical depth, you’ll be joining a tight-knit team that values mutual support, open communication, and the satisfaction of seeing designs come to life.

Your main responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the design, analysis, and verification of electrical systems for building projects
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and clients to develop tailored, practical solutions
  • Conduct site surveys and assess existing installations to develop optimized system upgrades
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications with accuracy and professionalism
  • Support construction supervision and field coordination to ensure design intent is achieved
  • Participate in budget estimation and cost analysis for electrical scopes
Your Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in building electrical systems
  • Eligibility to get government Security Clearance
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset, but English-only candidates are welcome

Salary range: $110,00 – $145,975 per year, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, scope of the role and geographic location.
