Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a leading pharmaceutical innovator in Kimberley, South Africa, to recruit a Senior Pharmaceutical Research Scientist. You will drive discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents, leading complex experiments and mentoring junior staff.

PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field is required, with 5–7 years post-doctoral experience in pharma. Expertise in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, PK/PD, and drug metabolism is essential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, or related field.
• 5–7 years post-doctoral experience in pharma industry.
• Proven track record in drug discovery programs.
• Experience with NMR, LC-MS, HPLC and analytical methods.
• Knowledge of PK/PD and drug metabolism.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex laboratory experiments to identify and validate drug targets.
• Design and synthesize novel chemical entities with therapeutic potential.
• Evaluate efficacy and safety through in vitro and in vivo studies.
• Analyze data, interpret results, and prepare reports.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and toxicologists.
• Stay updated with literature and tech advancements.
• Mentor junior staff; present findings at meetings and conferences.
