Job description

As Senior Director of Strategy and Business Operations, you will be responsible for setting the strategic vision, overseeing initiatives, and managing activities across Retail Banking and Payments Technology (RBPTI). Reporting to the Executive Vice President / Head, you will support the executive team strategically and operationally, collaborating with leaders across T&O, P&CB, and RBC (e.g., Finance, HR, T&O Functions, P&CB Strategy and Business Planning) to drive strategic and operational activities.

What will you do?
  1. Act as a strategic advisor to the EVP and other executives, supporting strategic and operational mandates.
  2. Partner with senior leaders across T&O and RBC to drive cross-enterprise strategic initiatives.
  3. Lead executive meetings to set strategic direction and review operational progress and financials.
  4. Lead the Strategy and Business Operations team (approximately 20 people), providing direction on technology strategy, portfolio and planning management, vendor strategy and execution, operational risk, and communications.
  5. Oversee RBPT vendors' strategy and execution in alignment with T&O and RBPTI strategies.
What do you need to succeed?
  1. Undergraduate degree in business or related field; an MBA is an asset.
  2. 10+ years of experience advising senior executives and leading strategic projects, with a total of 15+ years of overall experience.
  3. Experience in executive engagement, stakeholder management, and leadership.
  4. Strong financial literacy and understanding of revenue-generating businesses.
  5. Experience in technology strategy development and a broad understanding of technology delivery.
  6. Experience managing large portfolios, including budget management and funding, in partnership with Finance.
  7. Experience in building and managing performance scorecards, setting goals, and improving operational efficiency.
  8. Vendor management experience, including negotiating large contracts.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills, strategic mindset, and technological savvy.
  10. Ability to craft and tailor messaging and presentations for executive audiences.
