Job summary

Extendicare Medex in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal services in the Residence/Home. You will serve meals, assist with setup, tray delivery, and maintain dining areas.

Requirements include a Food Handler's Certificate, experience with seniors preferred, ability to lift, and willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check. Extends a comprehensive total rewards package and supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Preference for experience in food service and working with seniors.
• Must possess or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and stand for majority of shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist in set up and preparation for service of beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and maintain dining area cleanliness.
• Support catering and participate in special events and theme activities.
• Assist in orientation and training of new dietary employees.
• Follow health and safety rules and provincial regulations.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
• Participate in Quality Improvement programs and uphold Extendicare values.
