Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm, seeking a Senior Developer with FX Trading application exposure, strong Java skills, and experience with JUnit testing for our client, a top 5 Financial Institution.

Project Scope:

Our client in Capital Markets aims to build a best-in-class platform for the Fixed Income trading desk, covering Investment Grade and High Yield bonds, to meet global client needs. The goal is to develop an industry-leading fixed income trading platform using modern software development principles, ensuring adaptability, growth, and integration with external and internal systems.

This role requires a senior developer with extensive experience in building complex software solutions. The candidate will collaborate with developers, business analysts, product managers, and support teams to achieve short-term and long-term objectives.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership and innovative ideas for development design and system integration.
2. Adapt designs and functionalities based on trader and stakeholder feedback.
3. Establish effective partnerships within the team and with key stakeholders.
4. Create high-quality documentation such as solution diagrams, trade flows, and current vs. target state analyses.
5. Maintain and enhance current trading systems, providing production support.
6. Conduct unit testing and participate in test planning and execution.
7. Collaborate to improve real-time messaging, application integration, high availability, and other IT capabilities.

Key Qualifications:

1. 7+ years of experience developing complex software solutions for large organizations.
2. Proficient in Agile methodologies, capable of rapid development and adaptation.
3. Experience with high-performance, real-time streaming, data updates, and integration with backend services (TCP, HTTP, MQ, FIX).
4. FIX protocol experience is essential.
5. Proficient in Java, Python, C++, and Oracle database.
6. Experience in Capital Markets, especially FI Income, Credit trading, or rates, is a plus.
7. Experience with large trading platforms like Bloomberg TOMS, FIS BondOne, Calypso, or WSS is advantageous.
8. Effective communicator with all organizational levels.
