Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm seeking a Senior Developer with FX Trading application experience, strong Java skills, and JUnit testing expertise to join our client, a top 5 Financial Institution.

Client: Canadian Bank

Contract: 6-months with potential extension

Project Scope:

Our client in Capital Markets aims to develop a world-class platform for their Fixed Income trading desk, covering Investment Grade and High Yield bonds to meet global client needs. They plan to build an industry-leading fixed income trading platform using modern development principles for flexibility, growth, and integration with external and internal tools.

This role requires a senior developer with experience in building complex software solutions, working closely with developers, analysts, product managers, and support teams to achieve short-term and long-term goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead development efforts, focusing on design and system integration
2. Adapt and redesign features based on trader and stakeholder feedback
3. Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
4. Create high-quality documentation (diagrams, trade flows, state comparisons)
5. Maintain and enhance current trading systems
6. Perform unit testing and participate in test planning
7. Support real-time messaging, system integration, high availability, and other IT capabilities

Key Qualifications:

• 7+ years in developing complex software solutions for large organizations
• Proficient in Agile methodologies
• Experience with high-performance, real-time streaming, data updates, and backend integrations (TCP, HTTP, MQ, FIX)
• FIX protocol expertise
• Skills in Java, Python, C++, Oracle
• Experience in Capital Markets, especially Fixed Income, Credit trading, Rates (asset)
• Experience with large trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg TOMS, Calypso) is a plus
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement
