Role: Senior Database Consultant

Responsibilities

• Provide support across all aspects of database and application infrastructure, including configuration, administration, and optimization of PostgreSQL databases.
• Manage backup procedures, disaster recovery, proactive monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee backup, clustering, replication, failover, and recovery processes; develop action plans and client documentation.
• Design and implement complex data architectures, including data migration and transformation.
• Own Problem Management, assess incidents, and develop technical procedures.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to team members.
• Participate in client communication, reporting, and pre-sales activities as needed.
• Contribute to process improvements and team training.
• Be available for 24/7 escalations.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading PostgreSQL, including in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Scripting and development skills (bash, python, C++, Java, Go).
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, SALT).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, Datadog) and cloud-native monitoring (CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Azure Monitor).
• Experience with high availability solutions (Patroni, repmgr), backup tools (pgBackRest, Barman), and migration techniques.
• Understanding of database resilience, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Optional but beneficial: experience with Kubernetes, EnterpriseDB solutions, and performance tuning.
