Job summary

Mozilla’s Data Engineering team seeks a Senior Staff Data Engineer / Data Platform Engineer to help shape our data platform infrastructure. The role blends data engineering and platform leadership across two teams, guiding end-to-end data processing at scale and mentoring others.

You will drive cross-functional initiatives, evaluate new tech, and work with GCP, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Airflow, and Kubernetes. This is a hybrid role with opportunities to influence Mozilla-wide data strategy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years combined experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Tech lead or leadership experience in data platforms.
• Strong SQL and Python programming skills.
• Experience with data tooling in cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Familiarity with Looker, Kubernetes/GKE, Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve data platform infrastructure at scale.
• Evaluate new technologies and set best-practice standards.
• Craft workflows in GCP using Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Airflow.
• Drive cross-functional projects with Mozilla teams.
• Mentor teammates and promote engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with Data Science to design useful data abstractions.
• Address evolving needs of active data products.
