Mozilla is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Ecosystem Services back-end team in Canada. You will own backend systems, help maintain cloud infrastructure, and ensure reliability in production.

Collaborate with frontend, CloudEng, and UX/design partners to deliver robust features and secure data services. You’ll work across teams to design APIs, enhance observability, and participate in on-call rotations, with a focus on ownership and high-quality engineering.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development with backend focus.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust for backend services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and Knex.
• DevOps on GCP; Docker-based build/deploy pipelines.
• Observability with Sentry and Grafana; production reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend development and server-side logic creation.
• Own services end-to-end, including deployment and production health.
• Collaborate with CloudEng, frontend, and design teams to meet needs.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Rotate into support roles for releases and dependencies.
• Apply AI-assisted development judiciously to improve speed and quality.
• Ensure APIs and data contracts meet stakeholder needs.
• Review code and participate in security/privacy assessments.
