Job summary

Benevity is seeking a Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer to lead hands-on data platform work, shaping strategy and delivering scalable, governed data operations across ingestion, lakehouse, and semantic layer. You will drive design, governance and tooling to empower domain teams and reporting consumers.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, and advance AI-assisted developer tooling within CI/CD while ensuring security and governance across the data stack.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of scalable development experience with data platforms and pipelines.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role on scalable platforms and modernization initiatives.
• Excellent communication balancing product and technical needs.
• Experience with cloud-native AWS and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on technical leadership across the full data path.
• Design and build platform capabilities for domain teams to land data from source to reporting.
• Work across streaming/batch pipelines, lakehouse, and semantic layer.
• Lead medallion architecture on an AWS lakehouse with Iceberg, AWS Glue, and dbt.
• Make pipelines and data products declarative and discoverable in the metadata platform.
• Mentor engineers and participate in architectural reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into data designs.
