Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Canada is seeking a Senior Cost Consultant with 5-10 years of post-graduate cost planning and estimating experience. The role involves leading cost management across education, healthcare, residential and commercial sectors, and interfacing with clients and other consultants.

You will manage estimates, apply value management, and contribute to lifecycle costing while working within a dynamic, hybrid team in Canada.

Qualifications

• 5 - 10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services.
• A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Membership of CIQS, RICS and/or AACE is preferred.
• Knowledge of CostX is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction cost estimates for education, healthcare, residential, corporate occupier and commercial projects.
• Manage estimating and cost planning activities including ownership of and presenting the final cost plan/estimate.
• Apply Value Management techniques at project outset and where appropriate.
• Ensure cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is well managed.
• Lead interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
• Lead a cost management team and research Canadian construction market conditions.
• Manage commissions and participate in basic project/financial management tasks.

Job Description

As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will be involved in:

• Preparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for education, healthcare, residential corporate occupier and commercial projects.
• Managing estimating and cost planning activitiesincluding taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan/estimate
• Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate
• Ensuring that cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
• Participating in Value engineering, LEED analysis and Life Cycle costing
• Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
• Leading a cost management team, ensuring that it delivers on all of the above accountabilities
  Research related to construction market conditions throughout Canada, including analysis of official published data
• Managing commissions and participating on basic project and financial management responsibilities such as free tracking, invoice preparation etc.

Qualifications

• 5 - 10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services
• A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
• Knowledge of and experience using CostX is an asset
