Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Cost Consultant with 5–10 years of post-graduate cost planning and estimating experience to join our team in Canada. You will lead cost management for education, healthcare, residential, corporate occupier and commercial projects, interfacing with clients and consultants to deliver accurate cost plans.

The role offers a hybrid work model with a strong focus on delivering value through rigorous cost analysis, Life Cycle costing, and LEED considerations.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and cost services.
• University degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Membership in CIQS/RICS/AACE is desirable and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction cost estimates at design stages for varied sectors.
• Lead cost management activities and present final cost plans.
• Interface with client and other consultants across project stages.
• Lead a cost management team to deliver project outcomes.
• Conduct market research on Canadian construction conditions.

Who are you?

You are an experienced Senior Cost Consultant with 5 - 10 years post-graduate experience in cost planning and estimating looking for the next step, or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment and looking to join a growing and dynamic team. This posting reflects an existing vacancy that we are actively hiring for.

Job Description:

• Preparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for education, healthcare, residential corporate occupier and commercial projects.
• Managing estimating and cost planning activities including taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan/estimate
• Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate
• Ensuring that cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
• Participating in Value engineering, LEED analysis and Life Cycle costing
• Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
• Leading a cost management team, ensuring that it delivers on all of the above accountabilities
• Research related to construction market conditions throughout Canada, including analysis of official published data
• Managing commissions and participating on basic project and financial management responsibilities such as free tracking, invoice preparation etc.

Qualifications

• 5 - 10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services
• A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
• Knowledge of and experience using CostX is an asset

The base salary for the full-time Cost Consultant role is CAD $90,000 - $120,000. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
