Job description

Venor is recruiting for a Senior Controls & Instrumentation Technician on behalf of our client, a prominent bio-science enterprise operating in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

This is a full-time, permanent role situated in Windsor, NS.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Execute and uphold a calibrated program at a qualified level.
  • Spearhead the calibration maintenance program to ensure minimal plant downtime.
  • Lead calibration and instrument non-conformance, conducting risk assessments and Root Cause Analyses (RCA’s).
  • Assist in planning and scheduling calibration and instrument activities.
  • Continuously enhance Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM) programs alongside Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • Collaborate with Automation Specialists on instrumentation and control projects.
  • Install and sustain instrumentation / electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose process control system issues.
  • Aid in programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to rectify system malfunctions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and rectifying operational / maintenance issues.
  • Maintain IO, motor lists, and other necessary documentation for streamlined system operation.
  • Assist in pricing equipment and consumables for capital procurement.
  • Allocate and schedule maintenance operations, including tracking work orders, managing spare parts inventory, and maintaining calibration and maintenance history of plant equipment utilizing Blue Mountain software, ensuring adherence to good documentation practices.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned, aligned with business requirements and supervisor directives.

Required Qualifications and Skills :

The ideal candidate for this role will hold either a Trade certification as a red seal instrumentation technician or possess an Engineering degree specialized in instrumentation. They should bring at least five years of hands-on experience in an industrial setting as a controls and instrumentation technician, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field. Proficiency in PLC programming is essential for success in this position. Additionally, prior experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or pharmaceutical environment would be highly beneficial, though not mandatory.
