About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Construction Safety Officer to ensure a safe and compliant working environment for all projects in Kimberley . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs across construction sites. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, delivering safety training, investigating incidents, and ensuring strict adherence to all safety regulations and company policies. This is a vital position for an individual committed to promoting a strong safety culture and protecting the well-being of personnel on site, playing a key role in upholding the company's reputation for safety excellence in the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the site-specific health and safety plan .


• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.


• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.


• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, ensuring understanding and compliance.


• Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant occupational health and safety legislation and standards.


• Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and emergency preparedness plans.

Requirements

• Registered as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) with a recognized professional body (e.g., SACPCMP).


• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction safety role, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.


• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act, Construction Regulations).


• Proven experience in risk assessment , hazard identification, and incident investigation.


• Strong training and presentation skills.


• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to enforce safety policies firmly but fairly.
