Job summary

Venters Recruits is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to drive a strong safety culture across multiple construction sites. You will collaborate with the HSE Supervisor to ensure every worker goes home safely while supporting commercial projects.

The role focuses on promoting best practices, conducting inspections, training, and maintaining compliance with Ontario HSE legislation. A proactive, organized mindset and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • NCSO designation or equivalent health and safety certification with construction experience.
  • Degree or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • 2-5 years of health and safety experience within the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of Ontario construction health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, coordinate inspections, investigate work refusals, and liaise with the Ministry of Labour.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, monitor compliance, follow up on corrective actions, oversee air quality, and help maintain secure job sites.
  • Develop emergency response and evacuation plans, provide first aid when required, investigate incidents, and implement preventative measures.
  • Deliver engaging site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training to ensure workers understand and follow safe work practices.
  • Manage permits, inspection reports, training records, qualification tracking, safety documentation, and compliance reporting.

What You'll Be Doing
