Job summary

Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is seeking a Senior Advisor, Communications & Media Relations to lead strategic media relations for Toronto Pearson. You will act as a principal spokesperson, shape communications strategy, and craft compelling content across channels while supporting on-call duties.

You will provide counsel to internal clients, develop plans, and manage relationships with media and stakeholders in a fast-paced, unionized environment.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience in communications or news media.
• Three years’ experience preparing messaging or editorial material for public delivery.
• Experience as a media spokesperson, including on-camera and live interviews.
• Experience in a customer-centric organization.
• Experience in a unionized 24/7 workplace.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to simplify complex information.
• Relationship management abilities and collaborative spirit in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to handle confidential information.
• Three-year college diploma focusing on public relations or communications or related field.
• Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic communications counsel to internal clients and stakeholders.
• Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to support organizational objectives.
• Create content for news releases, media statements, social channels, and podcasts.
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and external stakeholders.
• Act as primary media spokesperson and handle on-camera interviews and inquiries.
• Support on-call rotation and manage proactive/reactive media relations during issues.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop messaging for issues and emergencies.
• Track performance of communications programs and demonstrate impact.
