Job summary

Kruger Inc. in Montreal seeks a Senior Advisor to provide strategic counsel and lead communications initiatives that require sound judgment and political acumen. The role partners with senior leaders, corporate teams, and business units to craft strategies aligned with priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in communications or public affairs, in an agency setting or similarly complex environment.
• Significant experience in corporate communications and delivery of high-profile mandates.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing integrated communications strategies and plans.
• A combination of experience within a large corporation and a government, public-sector, or parapublic organization is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop communications strategies and approaches tailored to objectives and audiences.

Position Overview

Based at Kruger's Montreal Head Office, the Corporate Affairs and Communications team plays a central role in strengthening and safeguarding the Company’s reputation and fostering strong relationships with its key stakeholders. We advise senior leaders, corporate teams, and business units on a wide range of communications and public affairs initiatives that are often complex, high-profile, and strategically important. Our work supports all of Kruger's business sectors and engages a variety of audiences, including employees, communities, business partners, governments, and the media.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Senior Advisor provides strategic counsel and leads communications initiatives that require sound judgment, independence, political acumen, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Communications in advancing the department's strategic priorities and act as a key resource and delegate when required.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, corporate teams, and business units by developing communications strategies and approaches tailored to their objectives and target audiences.
• Develop integrated communications plans aligned with corporate priorities and operational realities.
• Lead complex communications mandates in collaboration with various teams and business units.
• Proactively identify communications opportunities that support the achievement of business objectives.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of community relations strategies, particularly in connection with major projects or issues affecting the Company's operations.
• Respond to media inquiries and coordinate the research and information gathering required to support those requests.
• Help spokespersons prepare for interviews, conferences, and industry events.
• Participate in the identification, analysis, and monitoring of issues that may impact the reputation of the organization or its projects.
• Contribute to the planning of high-level corporate events.
• Support the continuous improvement of communications practices, tools, and processes.
• Monitor current events and conduct strategic intelligence and environmental scanning within areas of responsibility.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and activities, and recommend adjustments and improvements when appropriate.
• Represent the organization, as required, on committees, working groups, and at public meetings or events.

This position requires occasional travel to our various facilities and, from time to time, availability to support activities or events taking place outside regular business hours.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
