Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) seeks a Senior Client Partner 1 to develop and manage relationships with small and medium-sized business clients, offering financing and advisory solutions to support growth. You will help clients achieve strategic and financial objectives while advancing BDC’s mission to support Canadian entrepreneurs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business/finance/economics or related field.
  • Experience managing B2B client relationships.
  • Experience in commercial lending, business financing, or related field.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements, cash flow, and performance indicators.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment principles.
  • Proven ability to develop new business opportunities and manage a client portfolio.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the territory.

POSITION OVERVIEW

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing business-to-business (B2B) client relationships.
  • Experience in commercial lending, business financing, banking, financial services, or a related field.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements, cash flow, and business performance indicators.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment principles.
  • Proven experience developing new business opportunities and managing a client portfolio.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the assigned territory, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
  • Experience in commercial banking, equipment financing, asset-based lending, or business advisory services.
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or related financial credential.
  • Established business network within the North York and Greater Toronto Area market.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) or additional language skills relevant to the local market.
  • Experience using CRM systems and financial analysis tools.
