Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, finance, or related field.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing creditworthiness.
  • Proven success in business development and hitting sales targets.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients and building long-term relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Existing professional network in the Durham Region business community.
  • Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Comfortable working in a market presence and office.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with entrepreneurs to understand needs and tailor financing/advisory solutions.
  • Execute business development and portfolio management strategy.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline through prospecting and relationships.
  • Analyze financial information, negotiate, and present financing proposals.
  • Maintain presence in local business community and COIs to generate referrals.

ACCOUNT MANAGER POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC is Canada's only bank devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs. As an Account Manager in this role, you will help businesses grow by building new relationships and managing a small established portfolio of companies ranging from small enterprises to larger organizations. Through financing and advisory services, you will provide strategic solutions that support their success. CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Meet with entrepreneurs to understand their business needs, challenges, and growth objectives, and recommend innovative financing and advisory solutions tailored to their goals.
  • Execute a business development and portfolio management strategy aligned with Business Centre objectives to attract, retain, and grow client relationships.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship development.
  • Analyze financial information and structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals while exercising sound credit judgment and risk assessment.
  • Maintain an active presence within the local business community and cultivate relationships with Centres of Influence (COIs) to generate referrals and expand BDC's market presence.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Do you hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce, Finance, or a related field?
  • Do you have experience analyzing financial statements, assessing creditworthiness, and making sound business recommendations?
  • Have you demonstrated success in business development and consistently achieved or exceeded sales targets?
  • Do you have experience managing a portfolio of clients and building long-term trusted relationships?
  • Are you a strong negotiator with the ability to influence and present effectively?
  • Do you have an established professional network within the Durham Region business community?
  • Are you comfortable connecting with business owners and identifying opportunities to support their growth?
  • Do you possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle?
  • Are you comfortable working in market and maintaining a regular presence within the business community and the office?
