Job summary

Torus Talent, on behalf of a global engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join their Calgary office, supporting a diverse portfolio across Canada and the US.

The role focuses on structural design and analysis of heavy industrial facilities, including steel and reinforced concrete foundations, with collaboration across disciplines and increasing leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
• Approximately 6-10+ years of structural engineering experience within an EPC or engineering consulting environment.
• Experience designing structural steel and reinforced concrete foundations for heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience working on projects within oil & gas, mining, utilities, water treatment, or other industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of Canadian structural design codes and engineering standards.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
• Previous project management or mentoring experience is considered an asset.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as S-Frame or similar is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis for heavy industrial facilities.
• Complete engineering calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines.
• Prepare structural layouts, sketches, calculations, specs, and reports.
• Review drawings, shop drawings, and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Provide engineering support throughout detailed design and construction.
• Prepare construction cost estimates and technical documentation.
• Coordinate project deliverables and support project execution from conceptual design through detailed engineering.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers as required.
• Support project management activities on smaller projects.
