Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions in Calgary, Alberta is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer to join a multidisciplinary building consulting team. You will work on technically challenging projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential sectors.

This role offers mentorship, career progression, and the chance to lead projects while collaborating with architects, MEP engineers, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
  • P.Eng. with APEGA or eligible is required.
  • 5–8 years for Intermediate or 8+ years for Senior in structural consulting.
  • Experience designing building structures across various sectors.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Building Code and CSA standards.
  • Experience with ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, RAM or RISA.
  • Strong communication and multi-project management ability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building projects.
  • Design structural systems using steel, reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, and light-gauge steel.
  • Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Participate in site reviews, construction administration, and field investigations.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist with project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Contribute to maintaining high technical standards and QA.

We’re partnering with a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm in Calgary that is looking to add an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer to its growing structural group. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building projects.

  • Contribute to maintaining high technical standards and quality assurance throughout projects.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligible).
  • Intermediate: 5–8 years of structural consulting experience.
  • Senior: 8+ years of structural consulting experience.
  • Strong experience designing building structures.
  • Experience working on commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code, CSA standards, and relevant design codes.
  • Experience using structural design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, RAM, RISA, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.
