Job summary

TAG HR in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer (5+ years) to join a growing team in Downtown Ottawa. You will manage a diverse civil litigation practice, work directly with clients, and own files from discovery through trial.

The role requires strong research, drafting, and advocacy skills, plus the ability to provide practical legal advice and exceptional client service in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of litigation experience
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Experience managing litigation files through various stages of the process
• Experience with examinations for discovery, mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, motions and trial preparation
• Strong legal research, drafting, analytical and advocacy skills
• Ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical advice
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and file-management abilities
• Capable of independently managing files while contributing to a team
• Sound judgment, initiative and attention to detail
• Provide exceptional client service and build client relationships
• Creative, practical approach to challenging matters

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters
• Work directly with clients to understand legal needs and develop strategies
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal opinions, correspondence and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and provide practical advice
• Participate in discoveries, mediations, arbitrations and settlement negotiations
• Represent clients throughout the litigation process
• Collaborate with other lawyers and support staff to advance matters
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Contribute to a collaborative, professional firm environment
