Your role
  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
  • Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI and other structural programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, and ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical instructions to junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.
  • Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
  • Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
  • Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.
About you
  • •Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with minimum 10 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings. Master's degree and above is an asset.
  • Must be licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada. Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings is an asset.
  • Must have experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
  • Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design‑office and site experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of the use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
  • Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar is an asset.
  • Must have good skills in time management and setting priorities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills.
  • Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable.
  • Adequate knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to manage to work effectively under tight schedules and budget.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
  • Travel to client sites is required.
