Job summary

Impleo in Greater Vancouver is seeking a Senior Cinematic/In-Game Animator to portray character and object movements and tie them to gameplay and storytelling. Under the guidance of the Principal Animator, you will design and implement cinematic and gameplay animations for our projects.

You will mentor junior animators, collaborate with the production team, and help optimize the animation pipeline, including Unreal hookups and blend spaces, to meet technical and artistic direction and tight

Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ experience in animation in a game development environment.
  • Proficient with standard animation tools such as Maya, 3D StudioMax and MotionBuilder.
  • Proven track record to complete work within deadlines while maintaining constant communication with the team.
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure. Thrive in fast-paced work environment while maintaining high-quality results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Principal Animator to design and implement the needed gameplay and cinematic animations
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of animation principles such as weight, balance, inertia, and posing
  • Strong understanding of motion, acting, and timing
  • Ensures animations meet technical and visual quality standards and overall artistic direction of the projects
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the production team to resolve technical and/or design issues. Provides guidance and direction for junior animators
  • Anticipate and recognize potential conflicts or production issues, communicate technical and artistic constraints and recommend solutions
  • Constantly evaluates the animation pipeline for improvement
  • Adjusts and refines animation as indicated by the Art Director and Principal Animator
  • Assist with Unreal hook ups within motion tress, character components, blend spaces, etc.
  • Participate as a proactive team member to further team and project goals
  • Mentors junior resources
  • Other ad-hoc responsibilities as requested

OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE
