About the Role - Senior Business Development Manager - Mining & Energy (Maple Ridge BC)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager with an Engineering background to grow our Civil and Infrastructure markets in Central and Eastern Canada.

The overall responsibility for this role is to identify, pursue, and lead business development opportunities and market-specific strategies that increase the market share of the Geosolutions 5 (GS5) brands: RST Instruments, Measurand, 3vGeomatics, Syscom Instruments, and NavStar, technologies, and solutions.

The Senior BDM will work with existing accounts, including major oil sand operators, global mining leaders, and geotechnical consulting firms influencing monitoring specifications and buying decisions.

Reporting to the Sales Director – Canada, the role involves providing strategic business development expertise and support for the Geosolutions (GS5) brand portfolio. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth and increase brand visibility within the mining and energy sectors.

This position will be supported by our technical inside sales staff, sales coordinator, and technical applications team to promote integrated monitoring solutions. The candidate will have opportunities to engage in engineering and geotechnical projects across various mining and energy sectors.

Role Dimensions

  • Location: Maple Ridge
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid role (3-4 days/week)
  • Travel: Estimated 30–50% to visit customers and mine sites across Canada, as needed.

What You Will Do

Relationship Management & Business Development (Mining & Energy Sector)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in mining and energy sectors, including engineering firms in Eastern Canada.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct needs analyses to understand client requirements.
  • Qualify incoming calls to identify sales opportunities.
  • Travel to project sites and customer offices to strengthen client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel (30-50%) within North America to understand customer challenges and installations.
  • Attend industry exhibitions and conferences to promote the company.
  • Develop relationships with engineering consultants influencing product specifications.
  • Deliver presentations on the value of Geosolutions technologies and solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals.
  • Maintain effective communication throughout the sales cycle.
  • Manage the entire sales process from prospecting to closing.

Technical Collaboration & Solution Delivery:

  • Work with engineering and technical teams to define project requirements.
  • Achieve technical proficiency in Geosolutions offerings.
  • Leverage sales skills and technical knowledge to differentiate our solutions.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with inside sales for quotes and orders, using EPICOR ERP system.
  • Require 3+ years in sales management, including forecasting and CRM management.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales pipelines in Salesforce CRM.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Operate within ISO 9001 Quality Management System framework.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Established network in mining and energy sectors.
  • Bilingual in English and French is a strong asset.
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience, including territory management.
  • Experience in technical sales, forecasting, CRM, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent presentation, relationship, and sales skills.

  • Proven customer service and rapport-building skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work remotely.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Geotechnical, Geological, Civil, or similar).
