Job summary

Omnicom Media is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to oversee planning and monthly financial management for Mediabrands Canada agencies. You will identify, explain, and follow up on variances against budget/forecast, and prepare budgets and forecasts within deadlines.

The role requires collaboration with Client Account Leads and planning/client groups across agencies such as Initiative, UM, and others. The candidate will work with Hyperion and Vantage (SAP), prepare monthly financial reports,

Qualifications

  • Professional or Educational background in Marketing or Advertising would give leverage to this applicant.
  • Obtained or close to completing an accounting designation.
  • Mid / Intermediate level of Financial or Accounting experience, preferably in media agency or advertising industry.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and strong internal and client relationship skills.
  • Professional organization and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent thinker and problem solving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency in financial systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports and variance analyses for multiple stakeholders.
  • Investigating, explaining, and resolving variances (current vs forecast, current vs prior years).
  • Preparing and analyzing client profitability, utilization, and staff allocation and making performance improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinating with revenue recognition team to ensure client agreements and revenue methods are in place.
  • Preparing and loading budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensuring internal tools (Hyperion, Vantage SAP) are loaded and consolidated.
  • Liaising with media account groups for revenue position updates by client vs forecast.
  • Coordinating with Client Finance Analysts and Shared Services to bill properly across systems.
  • Monitoring accounts receivable and following up to keep balances under 90 days.
  • Streamlining processes and presenting improvements to move the tool and company forward.
  • Performing other duties/ad hoc projects within the scope of this role.

Job description

The role ofSenior Business Analyst handles the planning and monthly financial management process for one of Mediabrands Canada’s (MBC) agencies. The role is responsible for identifying, explaining, and following-up on all actual variances against budget/forecast, as well as preparing budgets and forecasts within the deadlines. This role involves substantial interaction and collaboration with the Client Account Leads as well as other team members in the Planning and Client groups that are part of MBC. MBC agencies include Initiative, UM, Media Experts, Orion, Reprise Digital, and Matterkind

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • : Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports and variance analyses for multiple stakeholder
  • s;Investigating, explaining, and resolving all variances where applicable (current vs. forecast, current vs. prior years, quarter vs quarter, etc
  • .;Preparing and analyzing results on client profitability, employee utilization, and staff allocation to identify any issues and make recommendations for performance improvements where applicabl
  • e;Coordinating with the revenue recognition team to ensure client agreements are in place for all clients and determine appropriate revenue recognition method

  • y;Liaising with the Media account groups on an on-going basis for updates on current revenue position by Client versus forecast, and for updates on new business revenue stream
  • s;Coordinating with the Client Finance Analysts / Omaha Shared Services to ensure that Client fee and commission billings are set up properly across the various systems (DDS, Vantage (SAP)
  • );Monitoring Client accounts receivable (A/R), aging and following-up with Shared Services Collections and/or Client Service Teams to ensure receivable balances do not exceed 90 day
