Robinhood Markets, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Backend Platform in Toronto. You will set technical direction and lead multi-team initiatives to improve how backend systems are developed and operated, guiding adoption of platform capabilities and developer tooling.

This role focuses on scalable, reliable systems and mentorship across teams. You will shape frameworks and libraries, collaborate with infrastructure and security teams, and drive improvements in development

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience with Go and Python.
• Deep knowledge of Django, gRPC or similar Go frameworks.
• Experience designing internal platforms or shared infrastructure used by multiple teams.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams.
• Commitment to improving developer workflows and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead large-scale initiatives that improve backend systems, including frameworks, tooling, and shared libraries.
• Design long-term technical solutions that support scalability, reliability, and maintainability across backend services.
• Guide evolution of core tooling such as static analysis, formatting systems, and service scaffolding used across the codebase.
• Partner with engineering teams such as infrastructure, security, and product engineering to plan and execute platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance that improves code quality, system design, and development practices.
