Job summary

Birchwood Automotive Group, Manitoba’s largest automotive retailer, seeks a dedicated Controller to oversee accounting for multiple dealerships. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, the Controller will mentor a four‑person team and drive strong internal controls and reliable financial reporting.

Key duties include month‑end reporting, vehicle sales transactions, floor plan management, cash flow, budgeting, and variance analysis, with preparation for external audit.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• Minimum five (5) years of Controller or senior finance experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of retail automotive dealership accounting procedures is a plus.
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills with strong communication abilities.
• Ability to transform legacy processes to more efficient workflows.

Responsibilities

• Month-end reporting
• Vehicle sales transactions
• Managing the floor plan
• Banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management
• Budgeting and variance analysis
• Reporting results to General Managers, manufacturers, and head office
• Year End functions and preparation for external audits
• Supervise a team of four and mentor colleagues
