Job description

A career as a Senior Analyst in the Special Loans team at National Bank offers the opportunity to act as a credit expert, with a focus on finance structuring, negotiating complex agreements, and supporting clients in difficulty within a legislative framework for restructuring and insolvency.

Your role includes:

• Supporting Senior Managers on complex restructuring files by preparing and submitting credit applications.
• Participating in all stages of complex transactions, from initial client communication to analysis, negotiation, documentation, renewal, and exit strategies for sizeable credit facilities across various industries.
• Analyzing sensitive credit facilities with diligence, creativity, and agility to meet client needs and risk management criteria.
• Negotiating terms with clients, advisors, and Credit teams.
• Leading special projects under supervision.
• Developing and improving portfolio tracking and management systems.
• Collaborating with Quality Control and Internal Audit to enhance processes.

The team specializes in restructuring large commercial accounts and managing files under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (C-36) or Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA). It also works with other business lines on joint management mandates for financially distressed companies and collaborates with Treasury, NB Financial, and Commercial Banking.

This role offers opportunities in risk management and commercial financing across various industries and business sizes.

This position can be located in Toronto or Calgary.

Basic requirements include:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in commercial credit.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence.
• Proficiency in financial analysis.
• Understanding of financial and legal issues in restructuring or insolvency situations.
