Key Responsibilities:
Perform month-end and year-end ledger close processes for the Capital Markets business.
Prepare accounting templates and ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Complete daily trial balance attestations, investigate variances, and maintain high standards of financial control.
Support legal entity financial reporting, including preparation of statutory financial statements and tax reporting packages.
Partner with internal teams (Corporate, Tax, Operations, Front Office, Data) to ensure accounting issues are identified, communicated, and resolved.
Drive process improvements and support ongoing initiatives to enhance financial reporting quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
CPA designation (or in final stages of completion).
3–5 years of experience in financial reporting, controllership, or audit, preferably with exposure to Capital Markets or investment-related businesses.
Solid understanding of financial instruments such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and related accounting principles.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Self-starter with a proactive mindset, able to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines
Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues, and “go the extra mile”
Preferred Skills:
Experience with financial systems such as Oracle, Calypso, or similar ledger/reporting systems is an asset.
Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, particularly as they relate to financial instruments (including bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments) and legal entity reporting.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process enhancements to ensure that activities are completed in an efficient manner that adds value to the enterprise.
