Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end and year-end ledger close processes for the Capital Markets business.

  • Prepare accounting templates and ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Complete daily trial balance attestations, investigate variances, and maintain high standards of financial control.

  • Support legal entity financial reporting, including preparation of statutory financial statements and tax reporting packages.

  • Partner with internal teams (Corporate, Tax, Operations, Front Office, Data) to ensure accounting issues are identified, communicated, and resolved.

  • Drive process improvements and support ongoing initiatives to enhance financial reporting quality and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation (or in final stages of completion).

  • 3–5 years of experience in financial reporting, controllership, or audit, preferably with exposure to Capital Markets or investment-related businesses.

  • Solid understanding of financial instruments such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and related accounting principles.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, able to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines

  • Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues, and “go the extra mile”

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with financial systems such as Oracle, Calypso, or similar ledger/reporting systems is an asset.

  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, particularly as they relate to financial instruments (including bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments) and legal entity reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process enhancements to ensure that activities are completed in an efficient manner that adds value to the enterprise.
