Job summary

BMO Financial Group in Toronto seeks a Senior AI Architect to own architectural coherence for enterprise AI across AWS, Azure, M365, and regulatory regimes. You will guide architectural direction for AI platforms, maintain standards, and ensure governance for major AI initiatives with senior leadership alignment.

You will collaborate with Platform & Fabrics, Security, DevOps, and Data Engineering to deliver a cohesive, compliant AI platform, while mentoring architects and driving enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture, with senior direction experience.
• 3+ years AI/GenAI architecture including production GenAI systems (RAG, agentic workflows).
• Experience holding cross‑team architectural authority and aligning senior stakeholders.
• Experience architecting AI in a regulated financial services environment with model‑risk awareness.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target AI architecture for the enterprise, including reference architectures and guardrails.
• Set direction across Directors and squads, resolving competing approaches into a coherent whole.
• Provide governance for major AI initiatives and represent at Architecture Review Board.
• Own architectural coherence of BMO’s Microsoft AI surface across operating organizations.
• Lead assessment of emerging AI capabilities and translate market change into defensible architecture.
