Job summary

RBC is seeking a Principal Engineer for AI Governance in Toronto to architect and deliver a production-grade AI governance platform. You will own end-to-end technical vision, integrate risk systems, and build reviewer-focused UI with Next.js/React.

Qualifications

10+ years of software development with progression toward principal-level leadership
Deep understanding of enterprise-scale governance and compliance workflows
Experience building end-to-end platforms integrating multiple enterprise systems
Strong frontend engineering with React/Next.js and TypeScript
Experience with frontend testing, observability, and scalable UI architectures
Experience in event-driven architectures and API gateways across complex systems
Experience designing complex workflows in regulated environments
Experience building automation via intelligent agents or browser automation

Responsibilities

Own technical architecture for AI governance platform across intake, assessment, review, escalation, decision, remediation, and audit
Model governance processes in software with approval chains and policy enforcement
Architect integrations across risk systems, AI infra, evaluation platforms, and evidence stores
Design reviewer experiences and UI workflows for defensible governance decisions
Develop frontend UI with Next.js/React using server components, streaming, and BFF
Set ADRs, testing strategies, and observability standards to enable team growth
