National Bank is seeking a Senior AI Engineering Developer to join the AI Solutions team in Montreal and Toronto. You will translate business needs into practical AI applications and automation, collaborating with risk, business and operations to deliver high-value outcomes.

You’ll design and build AI-powered applications, agents and workflows linked to enterprise data and APIs, evaluate solutions with real-world tests, and contribute to secure, compliant deployments while mentoring teammates

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-ready software solutions.
• Experience developing generative AI applications or AI agents.
• Experience with APIs, databases and data integration.
• Experience evaluating AI solutions and implementing safeguards.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, containers or CI/CD (asset).

A career as an Senior AI Engineering Developer in the AI Solutions team at National Bank means acting as an AI solutions specialist who transforms business needs into practical AI applications and automation. This job allows you to have a positive impact on our organization thanks to your experience in software development, artificial intelligence integration, automation and delivery of technology solutions.

Your role

• Collaborate with risk, business and operations teams to understand their needs, identify high-value opportunities and define practical outcomes and measures of success.
• Translate business needs into technical designs and delivery plans, selecting the appropriate approach among generative AI, agentic workflows, conventional automation and process improvements.
• Design and build applications, assistants and automated workflows connected to enterprise data, documents, application programming interfaces, applications and operational tools.
• Develop and integrate the software, application logic, data handling and user-facing features required to transform experiments into maintainable solutions.
• Evaluate and secure solutions using realistic test cases, acceptance criteria, failure scenarios and user feedback, while implementing appropriate privacy, traceability and human-review controls.
• Support and improve solutions throughout deployment, stabilization, adoption and ongoing ownership, collaborating with technology and control partners and, depending on experience, leading initiatives and sharing reusable technical approaches across the team.

Your team

You will join a new multidisciplinary AI Solutions team supporting Capital Markets and Treasury Risk Management. The team focuses on a small number of valuable opportunities at a time and works closely with the people who own and perform the relevant business processes. Depending on the assignment, you may work independently or as part of a small delivery team, collaborating with technology, architecture and control functions across the Bank.

Prerequisites

• A diploma in a related field and relevant experience
• Experience developing and delivering production-ready software solutions.
• Experience developing generative AI applications, LLM solutions or AI agents.
• Experience with APIs, databases, data integration and automated testing.
• Experience evaluating AI solutions and implementing appropriate safeguards.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, containers or CI/CD; financial services or risk management experience is an asset.

Languages:

Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
