Overview of role:

We are seeking an AEM Software Developer to be an active member of our Digital product development team - responsible for building responsive, secure, and innovative solutions for WestJet.com. This role will provide technical expertise and lead the development team in creating high-quality software solutions by designing and developing components, templates, dialogues, widgets, and bundles within the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Platform. Applies industry-standard practices and techniques. Leads development and collaborates with Product and business stakeholders to develop object-oriented software systems that meet business, technical, and quality requirements.

This position requires an energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, mentor, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and collaboration abilities are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Work with stakeholders to define and prepare specifications for new features/products on the CMS platform.
  2. Provide estimates for effort, complexity, and risks for AEM development streams and projects.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders.
  4. Support business applications by diagnosing complex issues requiring extensive analysis and troubleshooting.
  5. Manage multiple priorities in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  6. Design and develop automated tests for front and back end code.
  7. Develop robust AEM components, including configuration, Java code, client libraries, and templates.
  8. Work with partners to design and develop reusable templates, components, and services.
  9. Identify and document requirements.
  10. Manage code and resolve conflicts with other initiatives.
  11. Collaborate with tech leads, developers, QA, and stakeholders to design and build AEM front-end experiences.
  12. Understand complex codebases and relationships between AEM components and APIs.
  13. Coordinate with vendors to ensure sound site architecture, performance, and content delivery.
  14. Participate in on-call support to ensure uptime.
  15. Review and approve/decline pull requests.
  16. Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting implementation.

Experience and qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (version 6.x+).
  2. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  3. Experience in building sites, templates, components, or integrations with AEM.
  4. Mentoring or training junior developers in AEM.
  5. Understanding of Adobe Marketing Cloud, web markup, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks.
  6. Experience with AEM aspects like Sling, CRX DE, Package Manager, OSGi, Assets, User Administration.
  7. Proficiency in JavaScript, Servlet, JSP, Java, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, HTL, OSGI, JCR, Maven, Linux.
  8. Experience analyzing business and technical requirements.
  9. Experience creating AEM components, workflows, and OSGI bundles.
  10. 3+ years in Java, J2EE, Spring, Ajax, OSGI, JCR, SQL.
  11. Adobe Certified Expert or similar certification is a plus.
  12. Knowledge of mobile web development, responsive design, UI/UX, SEO.
  13. Excellent communication, planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
