Aviva Canada seeks an upbeat and experienced Actuarial Team Lead to join the Corporate Actuarial Department. You will contribute to supervising the Internal Model, develop opinions for the Board on underwriting and the Business Plan, and work with actuarial, risk, finance and pricing teams across locations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of actuarial experience within the property and casualty insurance industry or financial services sector, in one or more of the following areas: reserving, capital modeling, Solvency II/Solvency UK, or pricing.
• Knowledge of IFRS 17 and Solvency II/Solvency UK is an asset.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of evaluating technical details while grasping wider business impacts.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and engage stakeholders at various levels.
• Able to work both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with R, Python, and VBA.

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing assessment of methods and assumptions in risk calibrations and Solvency UK capital calculations.
• Ensure governance requirements are met by data sufficiency and quality assessments and model evaluations.
• Provide support to the Chief Actuary in forming opinions on Solvency UK Capital Requirement, Business Plan, and Underwriting through cross-functional collaboration.
• Support the Model Risk Management and Independent Validation standards by reviewing material models and creating documentation.
