The Opportunity

We seek an upbeat and experienced Actuarial Team Lead to join our Corporate Actuarial Department.

Within the Actuarial Function of Corporate Actuarial, you will take on a meaningful role supporting the Chief Actuary's responsibilities under the Solvency UK framework. Your tasks include contributing to the supervision of the Internal Model and helping develop opinions shared with the Board on underwriting and the Business Plan. By working directly with actuarial, risk, finance, and pricing teams across locations, you will gain important insight into diverse business operations. This position involves frequent engagement with senior collaborators and presents an outstanding opportunity to deepen your understanding of the organization’s risk and capital management approach.

What You’ll Do

• Support the ongoing assessment of methods and assumptions applied in risk calibrations and Solvency UK capital requirement calculations. Collaborate closely with the Economic Capital team and Aviva Group teams. This involves reviewing, questioning, and validating prorposed changesand confirming that current approaches remain suitable. These relate to Solvency UK Economic Capital methods, models, processes, calibrations, and capital result production.
• Ensure governance requirements are met by:
  • Supporting the assessment of the sufficiency and quality of data used in risk calibrations and the calculation of Solvency UK capital requirements.
  • Working closely with the Economic Capital team to identify, evaluate, and address model weaknesses and limitations.
  • Managing the weaknesses and limitations log, as well as the inventory of supporting evidence, with support from GI Global Actuarial Solutions.
  • Provide support to the Chief Actuary in forming opinions about the Solvency UK Capital Requirement, Business Plan, and Underwriting through collaboration with Pricing, Reserving, Reinsurance, Risk, and Finance teams. Conduct reviews and analyses to reinforce these views on topics such as the effectiveness of Aviva’s ON RSP use, exposure management practices, and pricing strategies for new product launches.
  • Support the Model Risk Management Business Standard and Model Risk Independent Validation Business Standard by reviewing material models as needed. Create documentation that follows the required standards and governance.
  • Perform Internal Model Independent Validation of Internal Model if needed and appropriate.

What You’ll Bring

• Diploma or degree in Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 to 5 CAS exams or equivalent.
• 3+ years of actuarial experience within the property and casualty insurance industry or financial services sector, in one or more of the following areas: reserving, capital modeling, Solvency II/Solvency UK, or pricing. Knowledge of IFRS 17 and Solvency II/Solvency UK is an asset.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of evaluating technical details while grasping wider business impacts.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and engage stakeholders at various levels.
• Able to work both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.

• The salary band for this position ranges from $105,00 to $134,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
