Job summary

Inn from the Cold, a Calgary nonprofit dedicated to helping families in housing crisis, is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and lead the monthly close process.

The role collaborates with budget managers and auditors, ensuring regulatory compliance and strong internal controls. A CPA designation or active pursuit, 5+ years in accounting, and nonprofit experience are preferred. Hybrid work and generous benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation completed or actively pursuing designation.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public practice or audit experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASNPO (Not-for-Profit accounting).
• Experience with nonprofit organizations and QuickBooks Online.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
• Process and reconcile bank transactions and cash deposits.
• Lead and coordinate the monthly financial close process.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and schedules.
• Prepare government filings including T3010, WCB, annual return, GST returns.
• Oversee Raiser's Edge integration with QuickBooks Online.
