Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a 6-month contract in Mississauga. You will oversee AR/AP functions, payroll, budgeting, and month-end close, ensuring accurate financial statements and compliance.

The role offers potential extension or permanent conversion based on performance. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 5+ years in accounting and audit prep, and CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance.
• Experience with multi-entity operations across various countries is a plus.
• Nice to have: Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor, Sage 50) and advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Job description

This role is a 6 month contract with potential to extend or convert to permanent.

What You’ll Do:

• General Accounting: Manage and oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing. Monitor cash flow, prepare weekly AR reviews, and process vendor payments.
• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and analyze financial statements, conduct P&L reviews, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Month-End Close: Lead the month-end closing process, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and ensure accurate financial records.
• Payroll Management: Process semi-monthly payroll, remit payroll taxes, and collaborate with the People & Culture team on payroll updates.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process, providing financial insights and recommendations.
• Audit & Tax Compliance: Prepare working papers for audits, manage tax filings, and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Process Improvement & Coaching: Assess internal controls, recommend improvements, and mentor junior accounting staff.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
