Job description

Almega is a purpose-driven real estate investment and development group headquartered in Toronto. Our vision is to become the largest owner of residential real estate in Canada, powered by a collective of partners focused on building generational wealth.

We operate through two core platforms :

  • Almega Asset Management , specializing in the acquisition, development, and operation of purpose-built rental communities.
  • Almega EMD , a registered Exempt Market Dealer in Ontario, focused on raising capital from accredited investors to fuel real estate growth.

With over $1 billion in assets under development and management and $50M+ in equity under administration, Almega is built on values of integrity, impact, and entrepreneurial execution. We are committed to sharing our success — 10% of our company’s profits are donated to charities selected by our employees.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage the full cycle of accounting and administrative functions across all entities within the Almega Group. This role is a vital part of our leadership team, supporting strategic growth by maintaining financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is excited by the opportunity to help shape financial systems in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
  • Manage the full cycle of accounting for multiple corporate entities, limited partnerships, and project-specific SPVs.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for internal stakeholders and external investors.
  • Maintain consolidated financial reporting across all entities.
  • Lead annual audit preparation and coordinate audit reviews with external accounting firms.

Tax & Compliance

  • Oversee all corporate tax filings, HST / GST remittances, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with NI 31-103 and other applicable financial and securities regulations for Almega EMD, in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.
  • Liaise with CRA, auditors, and legal counsel as necessary.

Capital & Investor Accounting

  • Track capital contributions and distributions across various projects and funds.
  • Maintain accurate investor records and coordinate financial reporting to accredited investors.
  • Support fundraising initiatives with accurate pro forma and historical financial information.

Administrative Oversight

  • Supervise and improve internal administrative processes, including document management, corporate record-keeping, insurance, and vendor relations.
  • Manage corporate banking relationships and optimize financial operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • CPA designation (or in final stages of completion).
  • 5+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting, ideally with exposure to real estate, private equity, or investment fund environments.
  • Proven experience leading audit reviews and working with external auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Experience managing multiple entities and complex organizational structures.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Sage Accounting.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with Exempt Market Dealers or other regulated financial entities.
  • Background in real estate development, construction accounting, or fund accounting.
  • Familiarity with investor relations or capital raising environments.
  • Comfort working in a startup or high-growth business environment.
  • Understanding previous experience with NI 31-103

What We Offer

  • Salary range of $65,000–$85,000, plus a competitive performance-based bonus aligned with company goals.
  • Opportunity to play a strategic role in a high-impact, mission-driven organization.
  • Hybrid work flexibility.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial, and values-driven company culture.
  • Meaningful involvement in shaping the financial systems of a growing real estate group.
