Job summary

Williams Lake First Nation seeks a Secwepemcstin Language Teacher to deliver daily language instruction to students from K4 to Grade 4 at Little Chiefs Daycare and Little Chiefs Primary School. You will work with the Lead Teacher to support student learning, assessment, and inclusive practices, while developing language curriculum resources for revitalization.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Secwepemcstin (Shuswap) language.
• Minimum 3 years teaching in multigrade classrooms.
• Experience with First Nations School Association is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher with testing and follow-up for students with exceptionalities.
• Support teachers in using Student Assessment to guide instruction.
• Co-teach Secwepemcstin language daily for K4 to Grade 4; manage K4 in daycare and K5-Grade 4 in the school.
• Plan, design, and implement Secwepemcstin curriculum resources; dedicated 2:30pm–4:00pm curriculum time.
• Serve as substitute teacher as needed.
