Job summary

Johnson Controls Canada is seeking a Commercial Installer to join our on-site team and set up, program, and service integrated security systems for commercial customers. You will read blueprints, follow wiring schemes, test systems, and coordinate with customers to verify installation schedules.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, technical training, and hands-on electrical/electronic equipment experience.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Some technical school training is a plus.
  • Electrical and electronic equipment experience with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate fleet vehicle safely.
  • Excellent customer service and communication.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Must obtain reliability clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Install and dismantle/reconstruct equipment as required.
  • Work safely to prevent injuries and property damage.
  • Verify installation schedules with customers.
  • Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
  • Test system operation and communicate with the control center.
  • Read building blueprints as needed.
  • Lead installation teams on larger projects when required.
  • Coach and mentor junior installers.
  • Travel using company vehicle and equipment.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it

  • Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.

  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.

  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.

  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.

  • Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.

  • Test's operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.

  • Reads building blueprints as required.

  • May lead installation teams on larger projects as required.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

  • Travel required, using provided company vehicle and equipment.

What we look for

Required

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Some technical school training is a plus.

  • Electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Ability to always operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.

  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.

  • Must be able to obtain the reliability clearance required to meet business needs.

Preferred

  • Networking Certification.

  • Access Control certifications.

  • CCTV certifications.

  • Experience bending conduit.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25.00-$32.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
